Fallin' for Ya

Here at The Houndstooth Press we are fallin' for fall! A chill in the air and warm cozy clothes are our style. Here's a list of our very favorite things about fall!

1. Pumpkin Patches

There is no better sight than looking at the side of the road and seeing an eyeful of orange! Pumpkin patches aren't just for families looking for pumpkins to carve, but tons of college kids have been flocking to these colorful patches to pick out pumpkins for themselves and snap cute pics along the way. You may find yourself resorting back to your childhood ways and fighting your friends over who gets the biggest pumpkin! You know it's fall when you see a pumpkin patch, so stop on in to find some pumpkins for yourself! The Houndstooth Press did a little pumpkin patch visiting themselves for a photoshoot and had a blast!

2. Carving Pumpkins

Now that you've taken my advice (good choice) and grabbed yourself a pumpkin, you kind of need something to do with it. Some people prefer to just set their pumpkins up in a cute arrangement on their porch, but where's the fun in that? Carving pumpkins is the perfect way to get messy and create something amazing and sometimes amazingly hilarious. Another new fad is painting and drawing on pumpkins, so if you're better with a pen than a knife, that might be a better option for you! We scowered the web to find the best (and funniest) pumpkin carvings!

Yeah, those are actually pumpkins! And then there's these people that tried... A for effort?

3. Haunted Houses

Spoookkkyyy! Haunted houses can be some of the best times you'll have! Even scaredy cats like me can enjoy them! If you look up haunted houses near you, you're sure to find one close enough and even if it's a little far away, it's well worth the drive. There are some mild ones that aren't meant to scare you too bad, but just surprise you. Most haunted houses I've been to don't allow their workers to touch you, and that always puts my mind at ease. If you just remember they're just people in masks, it makes it all way less scary. If you're looking for a REAL fright, you might want to check out haunted houses like "Blackout" and "McKamey Manor" that require physical and mental evaluations and have a safe word if the experience is too much for you. That's a no for me! You'll also probably get some pretty hilarious pictures like these...

4. Corn Mazes

Weirdly fun. You wouldn't think purposefully getting lost among giant stalks of corn would be enjoyable, but it's actually awesome. You can test your directional (or guessing) skills and try and escape the corn as fast as you can. Some corn mazes even turn into haunted corn mazes at night, and you will definitely want to get out of there quickly! They're a great place to take young kids with too much energy during the day, but at night when they're haunted leave them to the older kids. There's even one in Arkansas shaped like a razorback! That's some impressive corn maze making.

5. Sweatshirts

Seriously, seriously one of the very best parts about fall. Being cozy!!! I don't know about yall, but as soon as October 1st hits, no matter the weather the sweatshirts coming out. Nothing feels more like home than snuggling up in a big sweatshirt. Even the ever popular "sweatshirt over a nice dress" look makes an appearance because even when we're trying to look cute comfort and warmth are still key. Check out some of the comfiest sweatshirts we have here at The Houndstooth Press. You'll stay stylin' while also maintaining optimome comfort levels.

7. Pumpkin Spiced Lattes (Well, pumpkin flavored everything)

Everything, everything is pumpkin flavored! And this is an awesome thing because sometimes we deserve to eat a pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese while drinking a pumpkin spiced latte. If you don't like pumpkin flavored treats this is not your time, my friend. So many restaurants bring out the pumpkin big guns. Here's some favorites.

Au Bon Pain's Pumpkin Croissant
Dairy Queen's Pumpkin Pie Blizzard
Krispy Kreme's Pumpkin Spice Donut
And of course, Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte. Follow it on Twitter (that's right, a drink has a Twitter) @TheRealPSL.

These are some of our very favorite fall things! We hope you find some inspiration and some joy in the coming months and fall for fall just like we have.
