Remarkable Phi Mu & Where They Are Now

Phi Mu is the second oldest sorority in the nation with 123 collegiate chapters. With over 180,000 initiated members this sorority is bound to have some pretty outstanding members. Here are a few of those!

Beverly B. Martin

Beverly was a member of Alpha Iota at Mercer University and received her degree from Stetson University. Beverly now serves as a United States Federal Judge. She has served in district eleven since 2010 and was appointed by Barack Obama.

 

Susan Harling

Susan was a member of the Kappa Iota chapter at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Susan was the inspiration behind the movie Steel Magnolias that was released in 1989. Her brother composed this play turned movie about her downhill battle with cancer.

 

Andi Dorfman

Andi was a member of the Alpha Eta chapter at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She used to serve as a district attorney in Georgia, and is now a television personality. She was on The Bachelor Season 18, before returning to Hollywood and starring as The Bachelorette in season 10.

 

Kathryn Stockett

Kathryn was a member of the Alpha Zeta chapter at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, She is most notable for her novel The Help (2009) which turned into a major motion picture in 2011. She currently resides in New York City with her daughter.

 

Debbie Phelps

Debbie was a member of the Beta Chi Chapter at Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia. She is the mother of one of the most famous Olympians of all time, Michael Phelps. Debbie was a school teacher and a middle school Principle. She now currently resides in Baltimore, settling into retirement.

 

Pat Mitchell

Pat was a member of the Alpha Alpha Chapter of the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She is the first woman president and CEO of PBS, and former President of CNN Productions. She now currently serves Senior Adviser to Palsey Center for Media after formerly holding the title of President and CEO. She is the mother of six, and grandmother to twelve; residing in New York City and Atlanta.

 

Rachel Reilley

Rachel was a member of the Gamma Mu Chapter of Western Carolina University, in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She has appeared in Big Brother twice, winning the thirteenth season, and two seasons of the Amazing Race. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and young daughter.

 

Kimberly Schlapman

Kimberly was a member of the Alpha Gamma chapter at Samford University in Homewood, Alabama. It is here where she met her fellow future member, Karen Fairchild. She is a singer in the band Little Big Town, a four person country music group. She currently lives in Nashville with her husband and two young daughters.

 

Toria Tolley

Toria was a member of the Beta Nu chapter at Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. She has been a very popular news anchor working for and producing CNN headlines. When she is not reporting she works as Vice President and Consultant for a Media Firm. Toria currently lives in Atlanta with her teenage son.
